HIV/AIDS awareness campaign

Almost all countries are under the threats of HIV/AIDS. The globalization, liberalization and privatization lead international trades without any restrictions. So, the tourism and mobility among countries are increasing than ever.

In our project area there are high risk people around Sri Rangam. The famous temple falls in Sri Rangam is tourist places thousands of pilgrims are visiting the temple every day. so it the high risk area for HIV/AIDS spread. During the reporting period we organized a campaign on HIV/AIDS at Sri rangam. The main activities were distributing leaflets, stitching posters, performing cultural songs and organizing a mini exhibition. Lodge owners, lodge boys, hotel owners, suppliers, mainly participated in the campaign. The campaign activities created a mass awareness among the people and toursits

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARNESS CAMP

           The increasing of solid waste both in rural and urban areas creates much environmental pollution. Especially the usage of plastics is increasing every day and it causes for low ground water. It makes the rainwater to runoff. We organized a training programmes on solid waste management at Samayapuram a temple city in which 45 women and men were participated. We disseminate the printed information to the general public.

WOMENS LEADERS TRAINING

          We have conducted one day training to develop the leadership among women. 30 women participated in the training programme. The main input was family budgeting and natural health practice. Dr.R.Sugumar. Trichy helped the women to adopt the natural health practice. He explored the various types of natural health practice especially for  women and children. Further he advised the women to grow herbal plants in their kitchen garden. Mr. S. Padma, Vasantham, Pengal Sangam educated the family budgeting practice for avoiding loans and to promote savings habit among women.

YOUTH TRAINING

            We organised a youth training at Sri rangam, Trichy in which 24 young were participated. The youth are addict for narcotics. They fall in love at their tender age and it creates many problems in their life. We educated the youth on their earnings and expenditure and how to prevent the waste expenses. This was an useful programme to educate the youth in our project area.

CHILD AND MOTHER HEALTH TRAINING

        People in the rural are still gave birth 3, 4 children in their young age and it affects their health and economoics. The women are given marriage at very young age, i.e. immediately after training adolescent age, keeping concubines by men is very common and to marry number of wives as their will. Dependence of wives on the earnings of men is very common to be under their domination.
        Most of the men never give importance for the pregnant women on their health chechup, because of their illiteracy and workload. Safe delivery is becoming a question in this area. They are unaware on STD/HIV/AIDS because of their illiteracy.

      The pervalence of negligence in health cares by the community on women, girls and elderly women including children. The incidents of pre and post natal death and child morality are common in the rural areas.

In this situation we have organized a one day training programme on the theme of reproductive health rights for 24 women who are from rural background and below of 30 years. We observed their health knowledge and helped them to understand the importance of pregancy care. we advise them to utilize the services of Government hospitals and to avoid more children at their tender age.
